2019 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport in Hampton, VA

For those loving the Outlander but not wanting to drive such a large crossover vehicle, Mitsubishi offers the Outlander Sport. Smaller and less expensive than the Outlander, the Sport promises a sleek, stylish ride for the urban commuter with room to carry several passengers comfortably, making it the ideal vehicle for road trips and weekend getaways.

Trim Levels (Exterior)

The outlander sport is available in four models: the ES 2.0, LE 2.0, SE 2.4, and SEL 2.4. Each model is available in seven colors: Rally Red, Alloy Silver, Mercury Gray, Quartz Brown, Octane Blue, Diamond White, and Labrador Black. The roof spoiler and 18-inch two-tone alloy wheels add an extra layer of style to the exterior, while the color-keyed front and rear bumpers and door handles suggest attention to detail that has quickly become a part of Mitsubishi's legacy. The SEL model adds rain-sensing wipers, silver front bumper under garnish, and chrome beltline molding as well as an optional panoramic glass roof that really steals the show.

Engine (Power)

The Outlander Sport comes with two engine options. Yhe 2.0-litre MIVEC DOHC 16-valve inline four-cylinder engine in the ES and LE models produces 148 horsepower at 6000 rpm for 145 pound-feet of torque, while the 2.4-litre MIVEC DOHC 16-valve inline four-cylinder in the SE and SEL models produces 168 horsepower at 6000 rpm for 167 pound-feet of torque, providing a little extra power for those that need it. Neither engine will be winning any drag races, but for an urban commuter or family car, there is plenty of power here to spare.

Performance

The ES Model comes standard with a manual transmission. The INVECS-III CVT Sportronic transmission on the other vehicles is an optional upgrade to the base model and one that is certainly worth considering if you're not a fan of manual transmission. All models come standard with electronic power steering as well as front and rear suspension and large P225/55 R18 tires that hug the road for a smoother, more even ride.

Interior

The Outlander Sport offers a generous amount of head room and legroom for both front and rear passengers, but it's the well designed interior that will impress those considering making this vehicle their own. With six-way adjustable drivers seats and four-way adjustable front passenger seats as well as rear fold down seats, each occupant's comfort has been taken into account. Drivers will love the tilt and telescopic steering wheel with integrated volume, voice, and phone controls as well as the 7-inch touchscreen display that offers Apple CarPlay and Android Auto at the LE, SE, and SEL trim levels.

Safety Features

Safety is a guiding principle in the design of the Outlander Sport. This is why all models come standard with a generous safety package that includes an anti-lock braking system, traction control, active stability control, hill start assist and tire pressure monitoring, and seven standard airbags, including a driver's knee airbag. All models also include an anti-theft alarm system and engine immobilizer to prevent theft. The SEL model offers a few premium options not available on the other models, including lane departure warning and forward collision mitigation, which can be helpful in the event of an unavoidable accident.
